Dr. Carla A. Pfeffer is the new Director of the MSU Consortium for Sexual and Gender Minority Health

Carla A. PfefferDr. Carla A. Pfeffer is the new Director of the MSU Consortium for Sexual and Gender Minority Health which is an initiative within the College of Social Science that is housed in the School of Social Work. The consortium currently includes faculty from the School of Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, and Criminal Justice as well as students from the College of Social Science.

Dr. Pfeffer joins MSU from the Department of Sociology and Program in Women’s and Gender Studies at the University of South Carolina.

Dr. Pfeffer said, "I’m so excited to join the vibrant community of students, faculty, and staff here at the MSU School of Social Work. As a sociologist committed to equity and social justice, I look forward to continuing to develop independent and collaborative research with the power to inform clinical practice and social policy, as well as to reach beyond the confines of academia to form broader partnerships with the communities that make our research both necessary and possible. As Director of the MSU Consortium for Sexual and Gender Minority Health, I look forward to working with a team of interdisciplinary colleagues to continue to raise the profile of MSU through cutting-edge and LGBTQIA+-centered research, training, peer mentorship, and community engagement."
