The School of Social Work offers one undergraduate (BASW) and two graduate degree programs (MSW and Ph.D).
The Bachelor of Arts (BASW) degree program is designed to prepare graduates for entry
level positions in social work practice. The BASW program is accredited by the Council on Social Work
Education (CSWE).
The Master of Social Work (MSW) degree prepares graduates for advanced social work practice. The MSW
program is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.
The School of Social Work also offers the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) degree in
Social Work. The doctoral program is a member of GADE, the Group for the Advancement of Doctoral
Education in Social Work.
The Phi Alpha National Social Work Honor Society at MSU fosters high standards of education for social workers and invites into membership those undergraduate and graduate students in the School of Social Work at MSU who have attained excellence in scholarship and achievement in social work. Its purpose is to provide a closer bond among students of social work and promote humanitarian goals and ideals.
